India's victory over aussies - chak de india!

India atlast takes a postive stride against aussies in the current ODI series. While this is a great one close to all our hearts, Dhoni attributing this win to the older members was absolutely uncalled for. They did contribute and so did others. While it was expected from them as seniormost members, the juniors contributed very well. While Ganguly and Tendulkar waited until they were cornered and got some runs to retain their position in the team, I only see this as a loss to hundeds of in-form juniors waiting for just ONE opportunity.

The 20-20 victory has defintely divided the team between the juniors (who have proved that they can do it) and seniors. I still remember seeing (in the first ODI match at bangalore) the biggies dravid and sachin carellessly talking to each other in slip, when Dhoni continued to place his fielders every time aussies were thrashing the bowlers. The indifferences of the seniors comes from the feeling 'I have seen that and have done that' which significantly brings down the morale of the team.

Why does srilanka play so well - it is not because they are better skilled team but because they play as a team - which was long gone within Indian team until the recent 20-20 world cup. I hope selectors get over the issues (or fear?) of keeping a senior (should I say veterans) in the team and focus on team performance rather than individual past and records. Let us for once focus on India winning rather than who is from bombay or bengal.

I just pray that the selectors see the movie, 'Chak de India'!
